Government to provide relief to transporters

The state government will provide 'succour' to transporters affected by the ban on plying vehicles more than 25 years, Transport Minister Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen said.

Srinagar, May 8:  Jammu and Kashmir government said on Thursday that it would provide relief to the transporters of the state who have been affected adversely by its decision of imposing ban on vehicles plying on roads for more than 25 years, Transport Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said.

"Government will take every step to provide succour to the transporters who have been affected adversely by its decision of imposing ban on vehicles playing on roads for more than 25 years," Yaseen said addressing a function organised by Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association (KTWA) in Srinagar.

He said government was determined to strengthen the transport industry in the state.

"Government is committed to provide timely and comfortable transport services to the people," he said adding for the purpose, regulation of traffic system would be streamlined.
